Era Ruleset

Origins time-frame is early 1998, before the major patches that were leading towards T2A. This shards only goal is to recreate that. We it to be clear that playing on Origins should be like playing OSI in early 1998. Everything has been developed to reflect that time-frame and the shard has been online since 2009 with extensive testing. We might have missed something ! Notoriety System

In this era, it is very easy to accidentally go gray or red if you do not understand how Notoriety works. For more details on the Notoriety System, check the wiki page.

Original Guard System

When you call guards, an NPC guard will spawn and rush the criminal but it will not immediately kill them. It is possible for nimble players to evade and even kill guards.

House and Boat Security

This era’s housing mechanics are unique in that ownership of the house is determined only by who holds the key. There are no friends lists or co-owners.

Houses may not be demolished, so be very careful when choosing your house location! You may place an unlimited number of houses.

There are no house commands like “i ban thee” or “remove thyself”

Items placed in houses or on boats will not decay.

Metal armor types do NOT affect meditation rate, so it is common for mages to be clad in plate mail.
